Salary:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager/Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Industrial Mechanical team in the Halifax, Nova Scotia head office.

As a Project Manager and Senior Engineer in our Industrial Mechanical group, your role is to provide project management of multi-discipline projects and expertise in industrial mechanical systems. Strong candidates are expected to have a broad set of skills and knowledge in industrial projects in the energy and pulp and paper industries. Experience in energy transitions and emerging energy technologies would be considered an asset. Strong candidates shall possess project management skills as well as a broad knowledge of civil, structural, process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines as they relate to project coordination and oversight.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Manage multi-discipline design projects in the industrial market sector.
Business development, sales, and proposal development.
Supervise drafters, designers, and subordinate engineers assigned to the project. This includes work assignments, scheduling, mentorship and quality review;
Coordinate meetings with internal disciplines, external consultants, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and vendors/fabricators.
Provide technical expertise in industrial systems.
Perform conceptual and detailed design engineering, analyses, and prepare reports for industrial mechanical projects;
Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate designs for reliable, cost effective, and efficient operation;
Coordinate with equipment manufacturers to select the most technically acceptable design solutions;
Utilize leading and current technologies in development of designs;
Prepare equipment cost estimating and manhours for Conceptual, FEED and Detailed Design phases as well as retrofit analysis;
Prepare drawings and construction specifications;
Review, interpret, and include client technical specifications in the bid & purchase specifications;
Prepare bid evaluations and administer technical contracts;
Evaluate manufacturer's or contractor's proposals, data, reports, etc., for conformance with technical specifications;
Prepare performance test procedures, document test results, and prepare test reports;
Support coordination and witnessing of startup, commissioning, and performance testing of industrial mechanical systems and equipment;
Develop and maintain expertise with renewable fuels, oil and natural gas, RNG, and Hydrogen.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
Have or are eligible for P Eng. in NS and other provinces across Canada;
7-10+ years of experience in a related field;
Experience with working on projects from early conceptual to detailed engineering and on to project start-up and operations support;
Experience in the role of Responsible Engineer on larger projects;
Have mentoring skills and work with and encourage junior staff;
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;
Experience to handle multiple jobs/projects on a weekly basis;
Excellent organizational skills and time management skills; self-paced.
Having the following additional experience and competencies will have added advantage:
Experience in the role of Lead Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager on projects;
Experience in equipment installation, commissioning, & start-up support at site;
Experience in working in hydrogen, carbon capture, or other emerging clean energy technologies;
Collaborates well;
Communicates effectively;
Customer focused;
Instills trust.
