Position Overview
Reporting to the Regional Vice President, the Business Development Manager is responsible for driving business revenue through seeking avenues for expansion and growth, seeking opportunities for diversification, presenting proposals for change based on internal and external financial metrics, best practice industry trending and building relationships with new and with existing clients. The Business Development Manager works in a senior sales position within the company. The Business Development Manager will work with the internal team, marketing staff, and other managers to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for the organization. He/she may manage the activities of others responsible for developing business for the company. Strategic planning is a key part of this role, where thorough knowledge of the market is required. The Business Development Manager must also have an in depth understanding of the services Belfor provides, as well as of the company’s competitors.
Job Duties
Identify potential new clients, research and build relationships with new clients. Cold call as appropriate within the market to ensure robust opportunities. Meet with potential clients by growing, maintaining and leveraging Belfor’s network
Maintain client retention, manage existing clients and ensure they remain satisfied and positive
Participate in completing Requests for Proposal/Quotes (RFP/ RFQ) with new and existing clients
Assess new markets and identify new business opportunities that align optimally with Belfor services. Identify and communicate those business opportunities and competitive trends to Management
Drive the sales department, develop proposals for new initiatives, and seek ways to optimize, improve and grow current services
Incorporate new sales ideas into daily business while understanding Belfor’s people and capabilities
Advise on corporate business planning using market intelligence and analysis of data so as to optimize revenue and profits
Attend industry conferences, meetings and industry events to develop and sustain industry networks, to stay current in all industry trends and to keep well informed on future directions
Conduct ongoing research of trends, competitor performance, and industry best practices while presenting findings clearly, effectively and with a defined path to execution where appropriate
Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop Belfor’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
Conduct financial studies and develop fully costed proposals for new business opportunities; new products and services, new affiliations and acquisitions and timely and potentially profitable divestitures
Provide excellent customer service
Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information
Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment
Comply with all Belfor policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements
Attend all Belfor sponsored training courses
Responsibilities
Human Resources: Maintain employee confidentiality and performance management by coaching leading, mentoring and motivating employees.
Safety: Verify all Belfor documents are completed accurately; maintaining employee records and compliance; ensuring compliance of all employees and subcontractors with local laws and Belfor policy at all Belfor locations and job sites
Accountability: Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve or correct performance, ensuring accuracy and documentation.
Communication: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with our staff and customers, both verbal and written.
Leadership: Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
Time Management: Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment
Qualifications
Post secondary Sales & Marketing course / certification, and / or 3 + years’ experience in related field
Construction / Restoration / Insurance experience preferred
Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices

Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor’s vehicle policy
Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment

Advanced computer and/or tablet/iPad experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and Google Suite
Willing to work evenings, on call and weekends when requested
Periodic travel may be required
